Tijdens Cannes vond er ook nog een “Catching Fire” Party plaats waar Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin en regisseur Francis Lawrence waren hierbij aanwezig.
Op het officiële instagram account van “The Hunger Games” werden de voorbije dagen hints gegeven naar iets wat vandaag zou gebeuren. Ze hebben via het account de nieuwe poster voor “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” vrijgegeven! Wat denken jullie?
In een interview met E! vertelde Alan Rithson dat Sam Claflin zijn hand heeft gebroken op de set van Catching Fire.
Catching Fire hurts. At least it did for franchise newcomer Sam Claflin, who plays Finnick in the Hunger Games sequel.
“Sam got hurt the worst,” Alan Ritchson, who plays Gloss in Catching Fire, told me at the MTV Movie Awards. “He broke his hand doing a stunt.”
Don’t look for footage of the mishap in a DVD extra, though. “It was in rehearsal, so we weren’t even shooting,” Ritchson said. “He broke it on the stunt guy, warming up. I was standing right next to him. It was tough to watch.”
But, Ritchson said, Claflin “took it like a champ—he took it and kept moving.”
In een interview met Variety sprak Elizabeth Banks kort over Catching Fire en haar character Effie Trinket.
Thesp honors also go to Banks (Excellence in Acting), who returns as Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” She promises, “No huge surprises. Effie has a heart that grows multiple sizes. We’re true to the book. Hopefully we’re delivering to the fans. That’s what they want.” Of course, “I spent a lot of time in the hair and makeup trailer, and every day we had that ‘ah-ha’ moment.”
The actress is filming “Walk of Shame,” which refers to what happens after a one-night stand. Banks plays a newscaster. “It’s a comment on sensationalism, and we bring that back around on the media,” she says.
Banks memorably played Laura Bush in Oliver Stone’s “W.” While she never received any feedback from the former first lady, she did meet the Bush twins at a fashion show. “They were cordial,” she recalls, “but they were not very interested in shaking my hand.”

Elena Sanchez heeft onlangs een interview gedaan met Desde Hollywood waarin ze onder andere praat over haar rol van Cecelia in ‘Catching Fire’.
What was your reaction when you found out that you have been cast in Catching Fire?
To be honest, I didn’t really believe it until my first day on set. When I got the call, after about five minutes of hyperventilating, I told myself not to get too excited. In this business there are a lot of disappointments. I kept thinking they had made some kind of mistake and were going to find someone else!
In what ways can you relate to ‘Cecelia’, your character?
Since Cecelia is only mentioned a few times in the book, the love she has for her children that are taken away from her as she is chosen for The Hunger Games kind of becomes a defining characteristic. I have never had to make that kind of sacrifice, but love for people, the world, and life is one of the most important philosophies I live by. I tried to relate to her by thinking about what it would be like to give up some of the most important things in my life, but knowing that it was for a greater cause.
How well would Elena Sanchez do in a “Hunger Games-like” event?
Well, it would all depend on my competition. But beware! I can climb on things, swing from trees, and flip around… AND I have been working on my Ninja skills!
