Elena Sanchez heeft onlangs een interview gedaan met Desde Hollywood waarin ze onder andere praat over haar rol van Cecelia in ‘Catching Fire’.

What was your reaction when you found out that you have been cast in Catching Fire?
To be honest, I didn’t really believe it until my first day on set. When I got the call, after about five minutes of hyperventilating, I told myself not to get too excited. In this business there are a lot of disappointments. I kept thinking they had made some kind of mistake and were going to find someone else!

In what ways can you relate to ‘Cecelia’, your character?
Since Cecelia is only mentioned a few times in the book, the love she has for her children that are taken away from her as she is chosen for The Hunger Games kind of becomes a defining characteristic. I have never had to make that kind of sacrifice, but love for people, the world, and life is one of the most important philosophies I live by. I tried to relate to her by thinking about what it would be like to give up some of the most important things in my life, but knowing that it was for a greater cause.

How well would Elena Sanchez do in a “Hunger Games-like” event?
Well, it would all depend on my competition. But beware! I can climb on things, swing from trees, and flip around… AND I have been working on my Ninja skills!

Jennifer Lawrence gaat award uitreiken bij de GLAAD Media Awards

Eerder lieten we al weten dat Jennifer Lawrence aanwezig zal zijn bij de GLAAD Media Awards op 20 april, nu is het ook duidelijk dat ze een award zal uitreiken. Deze award zal worden uitgereikt aan niemand minder dan voormalig president Bill Clinton.

Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Charlize Theron are set to bestow an honour on President Bill Clinton on behalf of gay rights organisation GLAAD.
The ex-President is to receive the first ‘Advocate for Change Award’ at the GLAAD Media Awards for his work promoting gay and lesbian causes.
Clinton has reportedly been selected for the prize because he promoted LGBT Americans both while President and after he’d left office.

Elizabeth Banks zal “Excellence in Acting” Award ontvangen op CinemaCon

The Hollywood Reporter laat weten dat Elizabeth Banks de award voor “Excellence in Acting” in ontvangst mag nemen op CinemaCon.

Actress Elizabeth Banks will be honored with the “CinemaCon Award for Excellence in Acting” at this year’s convention. The news was announced Thursday by CinemaCon’s managing director, Mitch Neuhauser.

“One of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses, Elizabeth Banks has captured movie going audiences’ attention across the globe with her spot-on portrayals of a diverse array of characters,” noted Neuhauser. “From First Lady Laura Bush in W., to the highly fashionable and eccentric Capitol Escort Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games, Banks embraces each role unlike no other actress out there. We are thrilled to be able to honor her this year with the ‘CinemaCon Award for Excellence in Acting.’”
