Entertainment Weekly heeft een interview gedaan met Wes Bentley over zijn nieuwe film ’3 Nights in the Desert’.
Wes Bentley impressed in The Hunger Games as the gamemaker Seneca Crane, a character whose villainy was matched only by his absurd facial hair. Bentley looks scruffier in the upcoming indie film 3 Nights in the Desert, where he plays a musician who’s gone off his rocker. We have to ask: Is kooky facial hair written into his contracts now? The actor says, “I’ve always been able to grow facial hair since I was 15. I’ve always thought, ‘I really gotta use my facial hair for characters.’ It’s starting to work.” If you got it, flaunt it.
3 Nights in the Desert is a departure from Hunger Games. Bentley’s Travis is a member of an old rock band disbanded years ago, and the film follows the three former friends getting together for one anxious weekend in the desert. (Bentley’s bandmates are played by Vincent Piazza of Boardwalk Empire and Amber Tamblyn.) “They’re fulfilling a promise to each other that they’ll get together on their 30th birthday, which falls on the same weekend,” explains Bentley. “A lot of the film is about the different paths we take. Travis wanted to make an original sound at the sacrifice of being commercially successful. Barry, who Vincent plays, always wanted that commercial success. When they split, you could see how that affects their lives. Barry gets more buttoned-down, and Travis moves out to the desert and tries to cope with losing the music.”
De aankomende film ‘Love and Honor’ met Liam Hemsworth zal later deze maand worden vertoond tijdens de ‘Cannes Film Market’. De film wordt hier vertoond om de internationale rechten op te kopen voor de film.
Looks like “Hunger Games” co-star Liam Hemsworth is headed to the Riviera.
Lighting Entertainment acquired International sales rights to the actor’s latest film, “Love and Honor” (formerly known as “AWOL”). They will premiere the film for international buyers at the Cannes Film Market later this month.
In “Honor,” Hemsworth plays a soldier who secretly returns home from the war to win back his estranged girlfriend before anyone discovers that he’s back in town.
It also stars Austin Stowell (“Dolphin Tale”), Teresa Palmer (“I Am Number 4,” the upcoming “Warm Bodies”), Aimee Teegarden (“Scream 4″), Chris Lowell (“The Help”) and Wyatt Russell (“Cowboys and Aliens”). and marks the directorial debut of Danny Mooney. It was written by Jim Burnstein and Garrett K. Schiff.
“We are so pleased to be able to introduce ‘Love and Honor’ to our buyers in Cannes. Fresh off ‘The Hunger Games,’ Liam Hemsworth is just one of the elements that make this a very exciting property. The film’s setting and poignant storyline is an outstanding vehicle for this gifted cast, a truly talented ensemble of young actors right on the cusp of stardom,” said Lightning President Robert Beaumont in a press release.

How have you been dealing with all the attention your life and everything that surrounds it has been bringing you?
I haven’t really changed that much. I still do the things that I’ve always done. It’s just that I’m at a different level now in terms of my career. I’m able to meet extremely talented filmmakers and writers and directors – everyone in the business. I’m just in a different position than I’ve ever been in. But, you know, my personal life hasn’t changed. I still go surfing and hang out with friends. I just feel very lucky to be where I am and to be able to make movies.
There has been an enormous buzz around the world following The Hunger Games. What’s it like being caught up in it all?
Pretty much the whole of March I’ve been travelling, doing press everywhere. It’s been awesome. I’ve never promoted something as big as this. So it’s been pretty cool. As an actor I always look for things I relate to in one way or another, or things that are different. And this is definitely all that and has a huge fan base behind it already. I’ve never been a part of something like that before so it has been interesting.
What attracted you to the production and to the role?
It’s been different to any kind of movie that I’ve done before. I think it has given me a chance to show something different as an actor and be seen in a different light.
Happy Birthday to the Girl on Fire, our Mockingjay, Katniss Everdeen! May the odds be ever in her favor!

E!Online heeft hun eigen fantasy casting online gezet voor ‘Catching Fire’. Zijn jullie het eens met de suggesties die zij maken?
He’s the 50-ish black-haired techno-genius with a penchant for things that go zap in the night arena.
People out there like: Michael Emerson, Steve Buscemi
But what about: Andy Serkis? Think about it. You know I’m right.
Dark horse contender: Doug Jones. You’ve seen him act, I am sure of it, albeit probably under a ton of makeup, in films like Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy. But look at the face and notice a certain wonky inspiration that could make for a surprisingly sympathetic Beetee.
Or there’s always: John Malkovich.

Liam Hemsworth is (finally) opening up about Francis Lawrence replacing Gary Ross as director of The Hunger Games followup, Catching Fire.
Though Hemsworth says he doesn’t know exactly when Catching Fire actually begins filming…
“The last I heard the new director (Lawrence) had just come on, so that’s really cool,” the Aussie actor told us this weekend at City Year’s second annual Spring Break event. “I’m excited about that. I think we shoot the last few months of this year.”
“I’m really sad to see that Gary’s not going to be part of the second one,” he said. “He did such an amazing job on the first.”
But don’t get too worried. Hemsworth said, “I think that there’s still so many people a part of it that want the film to be great and care about it so much that they’re not going to bring the wrong person on.”
